FAQs
-What type of vegetation can you work with this hedge trimmer?
This battery hedge trimmer is an ideal tool for tackling medium-sized domestic shrubs, even with dense vegetation.
-What should I do when it is not in use?
During periods of non-use, it is recommended to remove the battery from the machine, clean the cutting teeth, and store the hedge trimmer in a safe place, ensuring to protect the blade when it is in the storage compartment.
-Do the cutting blades require maintenance or sharpening?
Trimming hedges causes debris and dirt to accumulate between the blades, a problem that without necessary maintenance can lead to a loss of cutting performance.
After each period of use, it is advisable to clean and oil the hedge trimmer blades, ensuring to work safely with the battery hedge trimmer in a horizontal position, well laid on the ground. The blades can be cleaned with a dry cloth, using a brush if necessary to remove more stubborn dirt. The blades can be oiled by applying a thin layer of specific oil (Stiga recommends using non-polluting products) along the top edge of the blade.
Please consult the user manual for further information on this point.
-The blades seem to operate as if they are not clean or smooth. What could have happened and what should I do?
Where the blades tend to snag and a reduction in cutting performance is noticed, possibly along with increased noise from the blade, it is necessary to check the cutting element.
If the problem persists even after cleaning and oiling the blades, the solution is to sharpen them.
For safety reasons, it is better to do this by an authorized Stiga dealer. Once sharpened, the cutting system will return to operating precisely and smoothly.
Finally, please remember that an excessively worn or damaged blade should not be sharpened but always replaced.
